Chronic lung disease and tobacco use are two of the most devastating public health problems in America. Experts agree that a large number of children, adults and seniors with lung disease are not receiving the type of individualized health education and support they need to effectively manage their illnesses and reduce the disabling impact that illness has on their lives. Additionally, there is a pressing need to prevent lung disease and other severe illnesses, by providing the type of individualized tobacco cessation services that smokers need to successfully quit smoking.
